An article via The Age website portraying Jolie’s choice of mastectomy to avoid breast cancer as an act of fear, not bravery and that there were other ways of lessening the risk of breast cancer, even with the specific gene.

It is an interesting argument in terms of perceived risks and safety – something radical and not without its own serious risk factors is generally portrayed as brave, even when it involves removing a body part despite there being less dramatic ways of reducing actual risks.
