Phone phobia in Gen Y?

This article from The Age suggests that Gen Y people don’t answer the phone. Interestingly, it refers to a Gen Y phone phobia, but much of what it discusses is a sense that phone calls are old school and inefficient, not that there is any fear of using the phone. This sort of pseudo-psych use of terminology (where phobia=avoidance but without attribution of fear) requires the sort of critical thinking that we want to train students in (and that sentence demonstrates the sort of grammatical construction we want to train students out of!!)
